Being a writer can be a tough job and we need to take inspiration wherever we can find it. The thoughts of other writers can remind us of what’s important and inspire us to keep plugging away at the keyboard, so, I’ve produced a series of inspirational posters for writers. They’re minimalist, typographically based posters because I want them to inspire, not distract.
I hope you like them.
Feeling Disempowered?
Feeling like your writing is never going to change the world is not inspiring, but Tobias Wolff will remind you how powerful writers really are.
Editing Blues?
I’ve produced several articles about novel editing: how to fix your grammar, how to copyedit and how to proofread your own work, but that doesn’t mean that editing isn’t hard work. Maybe this quote from Andrew Jackson will help you see the funny side.
Nobody Understands How Hard Writing Is?
There’s no doubt that writing is a hard business. A counterintuitive observation from Thomas Mann might help.
Not Famous Yet?
Do you want to be published? I’ve written about how to get your book published, and how to self-publish. But be careful what you wish for. Robert Benchley explains how fame isn’t always as great as it seems.
Tired of Writing?
Writing can become a slog, we can run out of ideas or motivation, and I’ve written about that in overcoming self-doubt as a writer. One way is just to write the fun bits. In fact, that might even be the best thing, because Elmore Leonard reminds us we shouldn’t bore our readers, or ourselves.
